Colin Hay, lead singer/guitarist, and principal songwriter of the Grammy award winning, and multi-platinum selling band, MEN AT WORK, is excited to announce an upcoming summer tour for 2019, in seven different countries and sixteen cities across Europe. Apart from Colin’s contribution to MEN AT WORK’s success, he has released 13 solo albums, and most recently, toured as part of Ringo Starr’s All Starr Band. “It was during the Ringo tour of Europe, when confronted with the insatiable appetite for those old songs” said Hay. “I got excited about the possibility of coming back, and touring with my band.”
Colin co-founded MEN AT WORK in Melbourne back in 1979, which rose to astonishing fame in 1981, with their debut album “Business as Usual”. This album, which features the hit singles “Who Can It Be Now” and “Down Under” was a global phenomenon, and hit Billboard’s #1 spot in the US, and stayed there for an incredible 16 weeks. The album “Cargo” followed, featuring the much loved singles, “Overkill” and “It’s a Mistake”. The original band was short-lived however, which left Colin Hay and Greg Ham (saxophone/flute and keyboards), as the core members. Colin and Greg toured extensively, as MEN AT WORK, in the latter half of the 90s, and early 2000s.
Sadly, Greg Ham passed away in 2012, but his contribution to the sound and personality of MEN AT WORK, will live on forever. As will the music, which has never stopped playing on radio, and deserves to be heard live by new generations of fans, which brings us to the present.
MEN AT WORK are set to start in the UK and conclude in Milan, Italy over the stretch of roughly three weeks in June and July. The bulk of the band’s shows will take place in seven different German cities including venues such as Berlin’s famous concert hall, Huxleys, Leipzig’s outdoor concert stage, Parkbühne, and also Hannover’s Capitol Tower. The tour also includes shows in Hamburg, Cologne, Stuttgart, and Munich. MEN AT WORK, featuring Colin Hay and his fantastic band of LA based musicians, are thrilled at the opportunity to visit so many influential and significant music venues in Germany and across Europe.
MEN AT WORK’s shows in Germany have already gone on sale and are selling quickly. The rest of their scheduled European shows are highly anticipated and set to go on sale over the next few weeks.
